For the next couple of weeks, I’m going to be posting about the big trip we took to Italy this semester. At the end of October, 8 of us took a trip to Italy- Milan, Cinque Terre, and Florence. It was an absolute whirlwind of a weekend, and I’m so excited to reflect back on this weekend and share some stories.
So let’s start with our afternoon in Milan.
Our day started with an 8 a.m. bus ride to the airport, so we made it into Milan around mid-day. And let me just start off by saying that one afternoon is certainly not enough time for this city, so I definitely plan on coming back, but when I’m much older. Milan is a city that feels gilded- it didn’t feel like the place for a meandering 20-something backpacking around. So when I come back, it’ll have to be a more posh trip.
Milan Cathedral
I have seen many a cathedral this semester. And this one was HUGE. Gigantic, and so ornate. One of the best I’ve seen We didn’t go inside because we didn’t have time (story of this day), but it was so amazing.
Sforza Castle
We walked the grounds of the Sforza Castle (built in the 15th century) and it was beautiful! I didn’t expect to love it so much, but we were coming from Granada (where the weather still felt like summer) so it was so refreshing to walk through a city in which it actually felt like fall!
Arco Della Pace
After walking around all afternoon, we decided to sit and look at this arc as the sun went down. And then we went to eat dinner along the river and then headed back to the hostel to prepare for our super early morning.
